I found this blog that sums up Regal's year in 2008 nicely It lists him as the number 6 best thing in the WWE for 2008. wwecharacters.blogspot.com/2008/12/wwes-top-10-stories-in-2008.html#6 Regal's Rule in 2008 While it was a bad year for our #5 individual, it was perhaps fittingly a "regal" year for William Regal. Earlier in the year, Regal won the 2008 King of the Ring tournament, beating the likes of CM Punk. From there, the 2008 King became the General Manager of Raw, a tyrant who abused the fans. Regal had the lights cut out on matches, ordered matches to be stopped and threatened to have fans thrown out. All this resulted in an eventual match with Mr. Kennedy, in which the loser had to leave Raw. Regal was dismissed from Raw for some time (due to a Wellness policy violation) but upon his return, he managed to defeat Santino Marella to capture the Intercontinental Title. Regal also picked up a "Queen" in the process, as WWE Diva Layla became Regal's gal pal and sidekick. Heading towards 2009, Regal will look to build on that success, but will have a tough challenge when he defends his title against CM Punk.

He will have a better year in 2009. He will continue to have gorgeous hair, he will have a long reign as IC champion and he will finally catch up on child support payments so he can marry Layla...ok, maybe not the last part.

From pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/The_Specialists_34/article_28937.shtmlWWE Hits of 2008 William Regal: Other than a major snafu, this was a good year for Regal. His run as Raw General Manager was a lot of fun. He did a great job of getting the fans to boo him. Before Vickie Guerrero's "Excuse Me" became the best heat generator for an authority figure, Regal got intense heat by turning out the lights. It wasn't always popular with everyone, including myself. But, it was a great way to get the fans to hate him. He was the most hated man in the company when he was suspended. It is too bad that suspension happened when it did. However, Regal's year wasn't a total waste, as he has come back and after a bit of a lag, he became Intercontinental Champion, and has vowed to bring prestige back to the Title. Hopefully he stays clean, sober, and healthy, and hopefully he has the chance to elevate the IC Title. Also a poll on the same page: Who was the MVP of the Dec. 29 Raw if you saw the show? Shawn Michaels Chris Jericho JBL Randy Orton Batista Matt Hardy Santino & Beth Phoenix John Cena Rey Mysterio C.M. Punk Cryme Tyme Kofi Kingston Kane Mike Knox Dolph Ziggler Miz & Morrison Cody Rhodes William Regal Super Haas Charlie Snuka Melina

But why do they say "sober"? It's not like they know what he was suspended for. I know he used to have problems but I hate when people jump to conclusions like that.

I don't think it was intended in that sense --just more of a generalization.

I don't think it was intended in that sense --just more of a generalization. I agree on that. Since we don't really know(and we never will unless he tells us himself) there will always be speculation. I truly believe it was a bad supplement, but thats me. However, with the past, people will always assume things. Look at Jeff Hardy. We all assume the worst if he gets into minor trouble and the WWE even made a story about it.

You're probably right. I just hate when assumptions are made about anyone.

Not bad. I do disagree with ranking Matt Hardy above him.

I think he deserved to be higher on the technician and brawler lists, and yes, certainly above Matt Hardy. I'm not sure why he was even on the comeback list, unless they were referring to his time off this summer.
