I myself am not sure.
On one hand, CM Punk is very popular with fans and has already held the HC and the Tag Titles. Maybe the WWE wants to make him a triple champ and push him more as a main eventer.
On the other hand, it will be on Punk's hometown, and it seems that most of the time wrestlers always lose in their hometown. Also, Regal retaining the belt in Punk's hometown via cheating would give him a lot of heat, maybe as much as when he was GM.
Regardless of who wins, I really really hope that this feud lasts a while and we get to see a Punk/Regal Submission match at Wrestlemania. Please and thank you. ;D

I hope Regal wins, but I don't think he will retain the belt. I think he drops it in Chicago, but hopefully the feud will play out and Regal will pick the belt back up in April when WWE returns to the U.K.

I just remembered something. Back when the UK tour was first put on the schedule, I looked it up and William Regal wasn't advertised on it, and I posted about it here and we were all good and pissed off. Then he ended up winning the belt. ;D

It really could go either way.
I see Punk winning because this is the third match. I don't have a problem with him winning honestly because I like Punk too.
But I see some nostalgic things with the Regal and the IC Title going on. Him using Layla as a shield last week reminded me of Savage using Elizabeth like that. I see him doing anything, including using his girlfriend, to hold onto the title.

That's true, and as my husband just pointed out, WWE has a history of embarrassing people in their hometowns, and given that Vince is back next week, it could go either way.

Obviously I'd prefer to have Regal win, but I'm really excited about this either way. I was really getting into last night's match.

I think he's gonna go at Regal like a spider monkey, and then Regal, all jacked up on Mountain Dew, will go crazy on him.
